Figo dismisses Mallorca speculation

Portuguese legend will not be postponing his retirement

Luis Figo has made it clear that he will not be coming out of retirement to play for the islanders.

The former FIFA World Player of the Year officially retired from football at the end of last season after four seasons with Inter Milan.

A reported salary of 3.5m euros per season was on offer for the 36-year-old winger, who has also played in Spain for both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Speaking to reporters in Portugal Figo said โ€œIโ€™ve heard about the interest but the person who it came from isnโ€™t even the president of the club yet.โ€

โ€œMy assistant knows about the interest from Mallorca, but at this moment my priority is to rest and Iโ€™m not thinking about getting back on the pitch.โ€

โ€œIf I wanted to continue playing football Iโ€™d have continued playing for Inter Milan.

โ€œMy future involves a different professional activity. I canโ€™t say more at the moment, but after hanging up my boots itโ€™s logical that Iโ€™m not going to stand still.โ€
