The Government Council has approved the General Plan for Balearic Islands Ports, which prevents the construction and expansion of new ports on the islands for the next 15 years. The plan has been prepared with the consensus of the nautical sector and the administrations involved and proposes concrete and low-impact solutions to rearrange the moorings, create temporary anchoring fields, improve management and promote sailing clubs. The plan contemplates actions at the ports under regional jurisdiction and foresees a global investment of more than 60 million euros, with close to 43 million corresponding to public investment. The intention of the plan is to democratize access to the sea and increase the efficiency of current infrastructures, following criteria of environmental and social sustainability.
